I have wanted a designer bag for so long, something worth the money i'll be investing in - a bag for life kinda thing. I've thought long and hard whether I really want to spend so much money on a bag, but I know if I don't ever have one I'll always regret it. So after years of dithering and changing my mind, I always come back to Louis Vuittons Speedy 35.
The only dilemma now is which style to choose? Please vote in the comment box which is your fave, I'd love to hear what my fashion savvy followers think.

The monogram canvas has until now always been at the top of my list, but after much thought and research I've began to think that it might not be for me. I like the cowhide handles how they look when they are first bought before they age and discolour, going a dark tan colour. Then there's the fact that this particular style is on every market stall being sold as a replica. There's nothing wrong with replica's guys, heck, I even had one at some point. But now I want the real thing...
So i'm thinking the Damier Ebene is most likely going to be my first (and last) designer handbag. I really didn't like this style upon first seeing it, but boy, oh boy, it has grown on me! I like how it's a bit more casual and less 'flashy' than the monogram canvas. Plus it looks like it'll go with any outfit. I saw the Damier Azur loads in Miami and it truly is beautiful but i've heard lots of people saying they take a lot of looking after to keep them clean with them being so light.

I'm not actually a Louis Vuitton fan, so i'd say that my fav one is the Alexander Wang one, tbh it looks a lot like one of my bags :)

I have the Speedy 35 Damier Ebene and I love this bag SO SO much. It truly is amazing & I love that it is timeless & you can wear it with anything. I do also love the Azur but with the Ebene I feel you can wear this as a night time bag as well as a day time bag but with the Azur I felt its more of a day time look.

ReplyDeleteI always wanted my first louis vuitton bag to be the monogram but my best friend at the time had it and i didnt want to seem like a copycat so i bought the ebene which is gorgeous. But now im finally buying my monogram 35 good luck i hope you get ur bag!!! enjoy:-)
ReplyDeleteI think my next designer bag will be the Speedy 35. I dont know which design I should get either.. Probably the monogram or azur... or maybe the ebene. I have the same concerns as you that the monogram is too copied. I would hate to be seen as carrying a fake when Ive bought the real thing! I'll have to check them out in store! Keep us updated on which one you decide on!

i have the same dilemma. im deadset on getting a speedy. but i can't choose between ebene or mono. ebene is less copied and it is super gorgeous. but the mono is a classic! urgh.. i curse the ppl who makes replicas.
ReplyDeleteI recently received a louis vuitton damier ebene speedy 30 for my 20th birthday and at first I was a little confused as to what I could wear it with because I had never actually had a suuuuuper expensive designer handbag before.. Clothes, yes Bags, no. But I think it was well worth the money! (although I did not purchase it myself, my daddy did) So i think it was a very thoughtful and money well spent gift and it is going to be carried by me for...ever...probably!

ReplyDeleteI have this bag in both the Damier Ebene & Azur. I love them both! However, the Ebene is much easier to take care of unlike the Azur. With the Azur, you have to watch out for color transfer, getting the inside dirty unless you get a purse organizer, and making sure your hands are not wet or has any liquid because it will stain the handles. But you can leave your Azur in the sun to let it patina much faster. ;) I've had my Ebene for 3 years and it still looks brand new. Personally I don't like the Monogram print. It looks too classic for me. But I do want one of my LV bags in the monogram material... maybe the Tivoli. I love the Alexander Wang Rocco bag so much, but these bags are made in China. The quality sucks. The leather is supple, but there are so many reviews with the handles ripping off or some leather not as supple enough. With this being said, I still want this bag so much.
ReplyDeleteSERIOUSLY GET THE DAMIER EBENE!! THE MONO SPEEDY ONE I HAVE SEEN IN PERSON, AND IT LOOKS VERY TRASHY NEXT TO THE EBENE SPEEDY! THE EBENE LOOKS MUCH MORE CHIC AND ELEGANT! WHEREAS THE MONO IS COPIED SOO MUCH, AND SO MANY FAKES ARE MONO RATHER THAN EBENE! I AM ORDERING MY EBENE THIS VERY MOMENT EEKKK!!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteI have the same dilemma! My husband is looking to get me the speedy 35 for my upcoming b-day in Spring but I can't decide whether to get the monogram or azur. I love that the azur can be worn in the spring/summer... but the monogram is classic and can be worn all year round. Also, add the monogram to any style of clothing such as a pair of skinny jeans and a white tee and the outfit looks pulled together. ugh, decisions... decisions... :)
